YDB's Closet Incorporated Story

YDB’s Closet was created with a simple yet powerful goal: to ensure that financial barriers never prevent individuals from celebrating milestones or stepping into new opportunities.
Launched in 2024, YDB’s Closet set out to empower high school students by providing free prom attire. Originally planning to host just one prom gown giveaway, we exceeded expectations by successfully organizing three events in New Castle County, serving over 100 students.
Thanks to generous donations from community members across Delaware, Philadelphia, South Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia, we provided students with gowns, shoes, and accessories at no cost. To enhance the experience, we partnered with local businesses like Omni Nail Salon, which provided ten $10 gift certificates, and a professional makeup artist, who gifted a complimentary session to one lucky student.
Recognizing the growing need for access to professional attire, we expanded our mission beyond formalwear. In May 2024, YDB’s Closet became an official nonprofit in New Castle County, and by December 2024, we achieved 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and established a dedicated board to further our mission.Growing Our Impact
In 2025, we are expanding our impact statewide by hosting free prom gown giveaways across all three Delaware counties, aiming to serve 200-300 students. Additionally, we are introducing etiquette training to help students build confidence and preparedness for prom and beyond.
To further support individuals in their professional journeys, we are launching a Career Closet, providing free interview attire and career-readiness resources. This initiative will ensure that job seekers have access to: · Professional clothing for interviews and employment· Interview preparedness workshops· Career coaching and networking opportunitiesThrough donations, volunteers, and community partnerships, YDB’s Closet continues to uplift individuals, making milestone celebrations and career success accessible to all.
